BPR have been working with Transport for London and AECOM to design a new Overground Station at West Hampstead.
The proposals, which aim to relieve increasing capacity issues faced by the current station, has recently been submitted for planning.
BPR have been progressing the designs on the concept of ‘the station as a continuation of the street’. The design at West Hampstead implements this concept by allowing the station to feed out into the public realm spaces, and using external grade fittings and materials which complement the character of the local area.
The station provides space for a retail unit, new staff accommodation and ticket office, a new concourse and bridge structure. The proposals also include much-needed step free access via two DDA compliant lifts, and wider steps to platform, improving the stepped access.
